Governor of Jigawa Alhaji Sule Lamido has lambasted President Goodluck Jonathan for convening the National Conference that aimed at disgracing the country’s elders.

Lamido stated this at the Government House Dutse while receiving the delegation of the Managing Director of Bank of Agriculture (BOA) Dr. Falalu Santuraki.

He said , “it is unfortunate that our last line of hope, which comprises the Emirs, clerics and elder statesmen have been assembled somewhere and are busy insulting one another in the name of national conference.

“If the PDP or APC members of the House of Assembly abuse one another it is understandable, but for the people we always turn to whenever there are contentious issues to be gathered somewhere and be insulting each other is the ultimate humiliation on our integrity”.

He noted also that, “it is quite unfortunate that today in Nigeria hundred of innocent people are killed like chickens on daily basis for no just reason and nobody cared to talk about it”.

“Also, It is only in Nigeria that $ 20billion would be declared missing from the public treasury but no one care to talk about it because leaders can dare any huge consequences in bargaining and securing their political interests”.

“The leadership in this country is totally disconnected from the people, all its policies are formulated in parrarell with their needs, plight and interest of the common man and the country”.

“The masses are today living in agony due to high level of injustice, denial, imposition, abuse of office ensued by the tyranny of bad leadership.

“Today institutions are not doing what they are created for, with the existing Ministry of water resources but people have no drinking water, with ministry of Agriculture but people are dying of starvation, with Ministry of Education we are recording mass failure in examinations”.

Lamido added that the Auyo irrigation scheme in the state was abandoned for over 30 years by the Federal government, despite the promises made by President Jonathan to release N10 billion for the project and reassurance by the Vice President when he visited the state, nothing was done to that effect.

According to him, the dualisation of Kano-Maiduguri federal road which was started more than eight years ago is still not completed, a further evidence of lack of seriousness from the side of leaders.

Earlier, the MD BOA Dr. Falalu had commended Lamido for his dogged commitment towards the uplifting of the lives of the people through his support for agriculture in the state.

He however proposed a N1 billion commitment and challenged the governor to do same as partners to support irrigation farmers at the Hadejia valleys with minimal interest rate.
