NDE trains 100 Benue citizens in Agriculture

Youths have been advised to take advantage of the conducive enabling environment provided by the Federal Government in the Agricultural sector to improve their standard of living.
Directors General, National Directorate of Employment, NDE Dr. Nasiru Argungu gave this advice yesterday in Makurdi, Benue State at the flag-off and orientation exercise of one hundred newly recruited trainees of 2020 Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme, SADTS under the Rural Employment Promotion Department, REP.
He explained that the program has over the years yielded positive results, hence the need to increase the number of participants from 50 to 100,adding that given the present situation in the country and the world as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, resources are dwindling, thus the need to uplift the lives of the people from poverty.
The DG who was represented by Mrs. Blessing Owan said the program is meant to improve the income of the participants, maintaining that it is expected that at the end, they should venture into commercial farming, be employers of labor and create wealth.
He also, urged the trainees to take the program seriously as it will definitely be beneficial and profitable to them.
Benue State Coordinator, NDE. Mr. Musa Sadauki said President Buhari administration has demonstrated clear determination to lift youths out of poverty and unemployment through various ways such as Articulated programs and Sustained support to Federal Government agencies that have the constitutional responsibilities of empowering youths and creating jobs opportunities as demonstrated by the N-Power initiative, Covid-19 SMES Palliative, Agricultural and Medium Scale Business Enterprises Development, Scheme Loans, employment of 774,000 applicants nationwide amongst others.
