Gov’t assures speedy completion of 220-bed space hospital in Gwarimpa

The ongoing construction of a 220-bed space Hospital in Gwarimpa District by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is receiving attention that will ensure its speedy completion, according to the Acting Director of Department Of Monitoring And Inspection, Engineer Omotayo Gabriel Ogunkuade.

A statement from Assistant Director, Information, Josie Mudasiru yesterday disclosed Ogunkuade, who made the assertion when he led a team of inspectors to the construction site, observed that quality of work done was satisfactory.

It added that the team advised that procurement for access road to the Hospital should commence immediately to avoid lack of access at the completion of the project.

Also, the Director noted the project will greatly benefit the residents, and urged stakeholders in the building industry to put up a position paper, with the approval of the FCT authority,  for publication in a journal, so that others who want to embark on such projects in the future.

Similarly, the Representative of the Project Division of the Department of Monitoring and Inspection, Engr Ijirotimi Olanrewaju said the Inspection was carried out to ascertain the level of work done before payment of Certificate Of Valuation ( CV6), noted that the contractor has achieved more work since the last inspection.

Olanrewaju said: “You can see that the Staff Quarters has reached the roofing Stage,the Mortuary has been roofed , and the sub- structure works of the  Hospital Building has commenced “.

Responding, representative of the contractor handling the project, M/S Mabelt Construction Company Limited, Engr Chuka Odigbo commended the inspectorate team for the professional counsel, assuring said that his Company is committed to delivering a quality job that will stand the test of time.

The inspection was jointly conducted by the Health and Human Services Secretariat, Department of Public Building,FCDA, Department of Monitoring and Inspection,  and representatives of the contractor.
