No fewer than thirty motorcycles, twenty vehicles and five tricycles were impounded at the weekend, during the second wave of FCT Administration’s intensive raid on illegal motor parks and garages in the nation’s capital city.

Also, three drivers were arrested for allegedly attempting to obstruct the officials drawn from various traffic management and security agencies during the exercise that started from Jabi Conoil , Cash and Cary mall in Jahi, Bannex junction , Katampe Extension, Maitama junction and AYA Roundabout in Asokoro District.

Head of FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Services otherwise known as Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) Taskteam, Adamu Shehu Maiwada, said the confiscated vehicles will be released upon payment of appropriate fines while persons arrested will be investigated and arraigned before a Mobile court, all to serve as a deterrent to others.

Maiwada reiterated that the mandate from the FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello and Commissioner of Police, Adamu Corona, who is the Chairman is that it’s a continuous exercise until there is sanity in the city.

According to him: “If you go round, you will see how lawless the motorists are, as they park any how. Somebody will come to the centre of the road, and park to solicit for passengers.

“And people complain daily about this menace. So, we have to continue with the exercise, until everything normalises.”

He however, disclosed that the notorious spots in the city are Area Roundabout and under  Apo Legislative bridge, because “ we went there several times, and as soon we turn our back, they are back to continue their business there.

“But we can’t be tired carrying out the exercise, because it’s our job. And we will continue doing it until when they are tired.”

Recall that officials of the VIO in collaboration with FCTA Command and Control Taskteam on city Sanitation had earlier in the week confiscated forty-six vehicles, one tricycle and four motorcycles during its first raid on illegal motor parks and garages along corridors of Area 1 roundabout through Area 3 junction and Apo roundabout, in the nation’s capital city.
