The Hydro Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC) has said that the on going cutting of tree logs on Kanji lake project is at over 70% completion.
The Monitoring Team Leader and the Commission Director of Administration and Finance, Jimoh Haruna Gabi made this disclosure in in an interview at Malale, in Borgu local government of Niger state.
Gabi explained that the recently embarked exercise on waterways in riverine areas is aimed at ensuring efficient clearance to boost the economic activities of the lives of the people in the communities.
He expressed satisfaction with the job activities within the clearance programme, urging the monitors to be alive to their responsibilities.
He also assured them of comfortability when the project is completed saying that the people will contribute significantly to the GDP of the country.
Gabi further explained that the scope of work was impressive, having witnessed the process from Malale to Shagunu down to Wara axis, adding that canoe commuters are adequately sensitized on the constant use of life jacket to avoid taking risk on the waterways.
