Breaking: Governor Uba Sani Pardons 20 Inmates in Kaduna

In a bold humanitarian gesture, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has granted amnesty to 20 inmates across correctional centres in the state.

The announcement, made by Kaduna State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Sule Shu’aibu SAN, FCIPDM, MCArb revealed that the amnesty followed the recommendations of the state’s Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy. Out of the over 60 inmates initially considered for clemency this year, 20 were deemed fit for pardon based on strict criteria outlined by the committee.

Exercising powers conferred on him under section 212 of the 1999 Constitution, Governor Uba Sani approved the Council’s recommendations in full. The pardoned inmates are set to regain their freedom today, marking a fresh start for them and underscoring the governor’s commitment to justice and rehabilitation.

“This compassionate move highlights the Kaduna State government’s dedication to upholding constitutional responsibilities while fostering second chances for reformed individuals,” the commissioner explained.
