A protest erupted yesterday when a decomposing body of an unknown young man was found under the Nyanya bridge, resulting in the blockade of the busy Abuja- Keffi Road by angry youth in the area.
Consequently, hundreds of motorists and commuters were trapped and left stranded at the Nyanya/Mararaba section of the Abuja-Keffi highway.
The angry youths, who blocked the road on yesterday afternoon expressed disappointment over the failure of the FCT authorities to evacuate the body which has been lying there for some days now.
It was gathered that efforts by Law enforcement agents deployed to restore normalcy and to ensure the re-opening of the road has been met with stiff resistance by the angry youth.
However, it was not clear what had caused the death of the young man, people present at the protest ground said it couldnt’t have been unconnected to attacks by bad boys around the bridge.
Also, an official of the FCT Administration however said the corpse has been evacuated to the gudu cemetery.
Similarly, when contacted, the FCT Police PRO, ASP, Mariam Yusuf, who confirmed the incident, said: “Discreet Investigation is On-going ,however, the body has been evacuated”.
