The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has described the appointment of Kingsley Rufus Madaki as the new Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) as a major validation of the role media practitioners play in driving transparent grassroots governance.
Madaki’s appointment was officially announced by the office of the AMAC Executive Chairman, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu.
Reacting to the deployment on Wednesday, the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, stated that the appointment marks a proud milestone for the FCT media community.
She noted that it underscores an expanding recognition by government officials that professional journalists are indispensable partners in development communication.
“We are delighted to celebrate one of our own as he takes on this new and important responsibility.
“This appointment is a testament to hard work, integrity, and the professional values that the NUJ continues to champion among our members,” she said.
The Union urged Madaki to leverage his extensive journalism experience to elevate public communication within the Area Council.
The leadership charged the new CPS to make transparency and accountability the cornerstones of his operations as he bridges the gap between the local government and the citizens of the Federal Capital Territory.
While wishing him a productive and impactful tenure, the NUJ FCT Council assured Madaki of the union’s unwavering institutional support and collaboration to ensure his success in office.
