Governor of Bauchi state, Senator Bala Mohammed, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, should do justice to Northerners to zone the 2023 presidential ticket to northern Nigeria.

Mohammed, who is a presidential aspirant in the PDP, noted that the Northern region ought to grab the presidential ticket because they served only two years in the party’s 16 years reign in power.

Speaking at a meeting with Kano delegates ahead of the PDP presidential primary election, held at Lugard House on Sunday, Mr Mohammed explained that Olusegun Obasanjo served two terms from 1999-2007, adding that “our brother, late Yar’adua, died in his second year in power.”

“After his death, Jonathan Goodluck took over and spent six years. So, the party should do justice for the Northern part of the country in 2023 because we served only two years in its 16 years in power,” he declared.

Mohammed lamented that Nigeria is in a mess, caused by incompetence, sycophancy and impunity of some politicians, declaring that “i am out to clear all these mess, to lead with docrum and honesty if given the mandate by Nigerians.

“I am a competent aspirant for this position in view of my track record and pedigree in politics. We would clear all this mess created by incompetence, sycophancy and impunity.

“Nigerians are suffering. Masses are hungry because they are in poverty. Wejn we were in power, we enriched people. We ruled with respect and decorum. When PDP was in power, we ran a unifier government as all citizens fell love to one another,” he said.

The governor also urged Nigerians to unite themselves and shun all acts capable of causing hatred and disunity in the country.

“I advised and cautioned Igbo to stop agitating for cessation. I told them, they have a stake in this country. I gave them example with their population in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Kano. No need for that,” he said.

The PDP presidential aspirant also declared that if he miss the ticket, he would support to anyone that emerge as candidate, adding that “the priority is to save the country from its current difficult situation.”

Mohammed also expressed his support to the creation of state police, saying that the security situation in the country calls for state governments to create their own security outfit for peace to reign again.

“This is the practice in the US and other developed countries. We already have vigilante. Police alone can not protect us due to our population.

“Insecurity is everywhere. In northwest, only Kano is safe. In northwest, only my state, Bauchi is safe. So, there is a need for state Police to check the security challenges proactively,” he advised.
