The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Adeleke Adeyinka, has debunked alleged admission of involvement of his men in internet fraud and cultism, attributed to him in some media space.

A statement issued by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Hauwa Idris Adamu noted that “It becomes very imperative for the Command to clear the air and set the records straight on the news being circulated by some media that the Assistant Inspector General of Police in-charge of Zone 2 Command, AIG Adeleke Adeyinka Bode, admitted that some of his men are into internet fraud otherwise known as Yahoo-Yahoo and Cultism”.

The AIG through his PPRO made it clear that the command under his watch wishes to inform the public that the news was erroneously published as the AIG never had any conversation with any journalist during his visit to Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police and that the AIG was quoted out of context.

The AIG, who had an in-house lecture with his men in Ogun State Police Command stated further that no such statement was made and that the lecture which took place on Thursday,28th of July,2022 with officers and men of the Command.

According him, he only charged officers and men of the Ogun State Command not to get involved in such practices such as Cultism, internet Fraud and other social vices but should be more dedicated to duty, respect the rule of law and be civil to members of the public while they eschew all forms of corrupt practices.
