SA to Gov Matawalle sues PDP guber candidate over alleged bearing multiple names

The Special Adviser to Governor Bello Matawalle on Zamfara Urban and Regional Planning ZUREP, Comrade Anas Abdullahi Kaura, has vowed to drag the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare to court over alleged bearing of multiple names.

At a press conference on Wednesday in Gusau Zamfara State capital, Comrade Kaura, said he found it a constitutional right to seek the address of the issue as it concerns a matter of someone vying for the position of a Governor who gave various names in his data captured by the INEC.

The Special Adviser said, he found it obligatory to avail to the People of the State with the information regarding the steps he has taken in filing a court case against Dr. Dauda Lawal, the PDP gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 general elections. 

“The decision to drag the PDP candidate to court is in fulfilment of my constitutional mandate as the citizen of Nigeria and someone who believes in the transformation of the nation’s democracy. 

“It was apparently clear that, Dr. Dauda Lawal has  too many questions to answer regarding the credentials submitted to the electoral body which is full of contradiction as serious suspicion is continuously raised by Zamfara people since the documents were leaked.

 “Logically we have found it difficult on which name to believe regarding the candidate, his name in the primary certificate differs with the one in the secondary school as well as his credentials of tertiary institutions. 

“The affidavit and declaration of age he deposed to were also full of contradictions hence there is the need for the court to offer immense clarification on the position of law regarding candidate with contradictory data for election.

 “Interestingly the reaction made by the campaign office of the gubernatorial candidate has further raise our fear that there are more questions that need to be answered hence the statement had further affirmed that, the candidate has many names that are still awaiting for clarity. 

“The steps taken by me is to help put the record straight and also ensure that even in future those who aspired for elective  positions have carefully adopt to the requirements of the electoral process”, Comrade Kaura has stressed.

In a related development, Comrade Kaura said he has concluded arrangements with his team of lawyers to prepare a process and approach the court of appeal Sokoto division  seeking for leave to join him as an interested party in the appeal filed by the PDP against the judgment secured by Engr. Ibrahim Shehu at the Federal High Court Gusau.
