Insecurity: Group advocates national ‘Civilian JTF’

As the insecurity situation persist across the country, particularly the North-East, a group, under the aegis of National Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) Corps, has called for the establishment of a National Civilian JTF to complement the effort of the conventional security agencies to combat crime across the country.

According to the body, the insecurity situation in the country calls for an urgent need to set up a National Civilian JTF before the situation gets out of hand.

National Coordinator of Civilian JTF, Maccima Umar, who disclosed this in a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Kaduna state said the establishment of civilian JTF would assist to fish out criminals in the country wherever they are.

“Our corporate objective is to establish National Civilian JTF as a first-class emergency responsive, security and crime prevention organisation in Nigeria, with the ultimate aim of leading the way in the national security and safety.

“We are ready to complement security agencies in curtailing the trend. The situation is alarming and the security agencies are not enough to secure our society. We are ready to help fish out criminals in our communities if given the chance,” he said.

The National Coordinator also noted that many people have died as a result of insecurity that is not only curable but preventable, if handled properly.

He added that Nigeria is blessed with formidable youths that are out of job, who can be used as Civilian JTF, just as witnessed in states like Borno and Yobe.

He explained that the proposed Civilian JTF programme would also reduce the rate of unemployment in the country.
