The protest for the release of Chibok abducted girls by the outlawed Boko Haram sect is gathering momentum across the world with the students of American University of Nigeria (AUN) Yola joining the race in demanding for their immediate unconditional release.
The students who took to the streets of Yola ,the Adamawa state capital alongside the management staff of the institution yesterday expressed their grievances over the abduction of the Chibok school girls adding that the act was inhuman and barbaric and needs the collaboration all to fight against the abductors.
The protesting students who carried placards with the inscription “ Boko Haram: release these girls or face the wrath of God” while another placard read” FG step up search”.
They said that they were pain with the abduction given the psychological and emotional trauma that the abducted students would be going through coupled with absence of their fatherly and motherly warmth’s occasioned by the abduction.
Vice-Principal of the AUN Academy, Ms Krista McKee, decried the ugly development and appealed to the government and relevant Organizations to immediately address the issue of abduction of teenagers in the country.
She appreciated the empathy shown by Nigerians and people across the globe that are feeling bad, protesting and demanding for their release with immediate effect, as this is not a healthy development in the country hence the world wide condemnation of the act.
Some of the students who spoke on behalf of the AUN Academy frowned at the ugly development and demanded for the immediate release of the Chibok abducted school girls.
