The Jigawa Coalition of Civil Society on Nutrition (JICON), commended governor Umar Namadi for the approval of N250,000,000 matching funds to United Nations Children’s Fund ( UNICEF), for the procurement of Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF).
The commendation was contained in a statement signed by the chairman of the coalition comrade Shuaibu Musa Kafin-Gana and made available to news men in Dutse.
According to statement, the resolution made by Jigawa state executive council during it sitting of approving the matching funds to UNICEF for RUTF procurement, shows concern and commitiment to reduce the high rate of malnurished children in Jigawa state.
The statement added, the realease of the funds for RUTF will save thousands children under the age of five who suffered from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM).
The statement then called for more media awareness creation for proper use of RUTF and urged general public particularly the lactation mothers to support government’s effort of saving lives of malnurished children in Jigawa state.
