The Operatives of Kaduna Police Command attached to Kafanchan Divisional Headquarters in conjunction with local vigilante, rescued Rev. Father Andrew Amana of st. Francis Catholic Church, Odo-godo in Jema’a local government area, who was kidnapped on the 3rd of November, 2023 by unknown gunmen.
The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, A.S.P Mansu Hassan, stated this in a statement made available to the media in Kaduna yesterday.
The statement stated that, the operatives and the vigilante trailed the gunmen to their hideout in the vast Dogon Kurmi forest where a gun duel ensued.
The statement added that the Operatives tactically combed the location and successfully dislodged the hoodlums and rescued the clergyman unhurt and arrested two suspects, namely; Lawal Muhammad 27 years and Ya’u Hussain 30 years, both of Datti and Dogon Kurmi villages respectively.
“Equally, an AK-47 rifle loaded with two rounds of live 7.62 X 39mm ammunitions was recovered from the said suspects.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the motive of the armed hoodlums who abducted the reverend father was basically financial since a four million naira ransom has already agreed with the family of the victim before the Police Operatives struck.
“The gunmen were four in number thus, two are still at large, though strongly suspected to be nursing gunshot wounds from the violent combat.“
