Nigerian Association of Women Journalists ( NAWOJ) Jigawa state chapter has elected new executive leaders to lead the association for the next three years.
The election took place at the weekend with the incumbent chairperson Hauwa Ibrahim Ladan emerging as reelected chairperson.
Speaking during the inauguration of the new executives, the National Vice chairperson in changed of Northwest Comrade Halima Musa commended the peaceful conduct of the election.
“The election I supervised today in Jigawa state has followed a due process and all the candidate has satisfied the createria laid down by the NAWOJ constitution and that of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)”.
I am appealing to the new executives to carry all union members along, cooperate with state government, NUJ, partners and general public in championing for the interest of women and general public , as we as peace and progress of the society”.
In his speech at the occasion, the chairman Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) Jigawa state council Comrade Muhammad Garba Bulangu said, the election was a product sacrifice and upholding the principle of Justice, fairness and democratic tenants.
“ So many things happen in the process of this election, but all it is now a history, “ there are so many lesson to learn, impunity has no longer have any space in our Union, democracy and justice will continue to prevailed against all odds, “ Chairman stated.
