Benue leadership tussle: Jime dares SGF, Akume

Date:

From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

Former Executive Secretary, Nigerian Shippers’ Council Barr. Emmanuel Jime has dared the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Sen. George Akume, insisting that Governor Hyacinth Alia is the leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue State.
Barr. Jime who stated this in a text message on Sunday, posited that in a Presidential democracy, the Governor is the leader of the party.
He said those making accusations at the Governor are ‘ignorant’ and without any foundation.
“Why would he need any one to speak for him in the Villa or at the National Secretariat? The tragedy of our Democratic experiment so far is that most of us see politics as a meal ticket.
“Whenever an elected official chooses the path to real development, you will have the stomach infrastructure politicians attempting the distraction strategy. Benue is in dire need of a development agenda. The Governor appears to be focused on this. All men and women of good will must join in this all important endeavour”.
It should be noted that there has been a raging battle of supremacy in the State between camp of the Governor and the SGF.
Though the APC leadership has aptly denied any rift between the SGF and the Governor, maintaining strongly that it is between the Governor and the party even as they accused the former of neglecting the latter.
