From Umar Dankano,Yola
Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has announced the privatization of the state’s owned Yola International Hotel for full business utilization.
Governor Fintiri made the disclosure in Yola while fielding questions from journalists, stressing that all arrangements have been concluded to lease or rent out the hotel to private company so as to boost the internally generated revenue for the state.
Fintiri said his administration is very sensitive to avenues of wealth creation for the development of all sectors in the state, noting that, his government met a monthly revenue generation base of less than N3 billion but raised it up to over N12 billion.
He stated that his government has established more ways of getting IGR despite the economic realities, maintaining that economic experts in the system have assured him of jacking up the state’s IGR base to N25 billion monthly by next year (2024) which has already been captured in the 2024 appropriation budget.
Answering a question about the pending recruitment of civil servants, Fintiri stated that the process which has started already will be concluded soon, explaining that recruitment of candidates would be selected from both the old list and the new ones for equity and fairness.
