Bauchi govt to provide adequate security in schools

In its efforts to provide adequate securities in schools, the Bauchi state government has reiterated its commitment to provide adequate security in all schools in the state, as a result of alleged several threats to attack schools in the state.

The state’s commissioner of education, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Aminu gave the assurance yesterday, while speaking with journalists in Bauchi. He said the threat to attack schools was not a new thing, saying, “We don’t neglect any information we receive; we took measures through the security agencies, parents and the communities to ensure that all our schools are safe.

Aminu added that sometimes, some of the threats come every third term, as some of the threats came from students who feel they will not pass the promotion exam and that after investigation, some students were held as responsible for the threat by the security agencies.

He said government had educated both teachers and students on what to do if they see a strange face.

Aminu said, “We are aware of the threats; any information we receive, we immediately take necessary action and pro-active measures and send it to the security agencies and we investigate it to the letter and take all the necessary measures; we don’t joke with threats and useful information, we act on it immediately “.

Recently, teachers and students of boarding secondary schools and two tertiary institution in the state told journalists that they received a threat letter from armed men that they will come and attack their schools.
