Make wellbeing of citizens your priority, Archbishop urges Nigerian leaders

The Archbishop of Kaduna Province, Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Timothy Yahaya has urged Nigerian leaders, particularly politicians to make the well being of citizens, their priority which is the covenant between them and the people through votes.
He asserted this in his 2024 new year’s massages in Kaduna yesterday.
According to him the harsh economic situation, taking too much toll on the masses is simply an indication that politicians and those in government in particular had not kept faith with the confidence reposed in them by Nigerians.
The Archbishop therefore advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other Nigeria’s leaders to as a matter of urgency come up with practical measures and policies that would cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal on the people who are suffering from hunger and afflictions across the country.
Most Rev. Timothy Yahaya further advised the President to give agriculture, particularly crop and livestock production, fisheries and forestry a top most priority to reduce the rate of unemployment and poverty in Nigeria, stressing the need for massive investments into the agricultural industry to tackle Nigeria’s unemployment and poverty levels.
Similarly, he called on the President to fix all the country’s refineries and rejig the power sector as part of measures to recover and turn around the nation’s ailing economy.
According to him all Nigerians are feeling the heat of fuel subsidy removal and urgent steps must be taken to ameliorate the economic hardship occasioned by the policy.
