A youth group, under the auspices of One Voice Development Initiative has held a special prayer session for the release of Abba Kyari, suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, in Kano state.
For over two years, the embattled Kyari is being detained in Kuje Correctional Centre for various alleged offences.
Since then, campaigns had been launched by many Nigerians, demanding for his unconditional release.
Speaking during the prayers session at Fele Event Centre, Nassarawa GRA in Kano on Monday evening, the Convener of the group, Abbas Yakasai said they converged to seek Allah’s intervention over Mr Kyari’s travails.
According to Yakasai, the group had a firm belief that Mr Kyari is a man of honesty, dedication to service and diligence.
He alleged that the continued detention of the Super Cop was the handiwork of some unscrupulous elements who do not wish the country well in view of Kyari’s dedication to the protection of Nigeria.
“We believe that when DCP Abba Kyari was in service, Nigeria was more peaceful and safer. Now that he is in detention, security situation is worsening.
“We are all witness of how he fought banditry with all his life. Banditry was not as worse as now when he was in service.
“That is why we pray for his release and pray against anybody that has hand in Abba Kyari’s travails,” he said.
Yakasai therefore appealed to President bola Ahmed Tinubu to facilitate the release of Mr Kyari to continue serving the nation.
“May God touch the hearts of the authorities concern, especially President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure the immediate release of DCP Abba Kyari.”
