
UDUS appoints three directors for key service units
The Governing Council of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto has approved the appointment of three directors to head key service units in the institution.
The appointments were approved at the council’s 178th Special Meeting held on July 3, following the recommendations of the Selection Board.
The appointees are Arc. Muhammad Hassan as Director of Physical Planning and Development, Dr Zainab Abdullahi as Director of Health Services and Wing Commander Abubakar Usman as Director of Security Services.
Hassan, an architect, joined the university in 2008 and rose through the ranks to become Deputy Director after serving in several capacities within the Physical Planning Department.
He holds National Diploma, Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Architecture and has extensive experience in project supervision, physical planning and infrastructure development.
Abdullahi, a medical practitioner and Fellow of the West African College of Physicians, graduated from Usmanu Danfodiyo University with an MBBS degree in 2001 before obtaining a Master of Public Health from the institution.
She joined the university in 2004 as a Medical Officer and rose to the position of Senior Chief Medical Officer, serving on several university committees.
Usman, a Wing Commander in the Nigerian Air Force, has over 23 years of military service and holds postgraduate qualifications in Electrical Engineering from the Nigerian Defence Academy.
He has attended several military and technical courses within and outside Nigeria and has experience in security operations, engineering and explosive management.
The university said each appointment is for a single, non-renewable term of five years and will take effect from the date the officers assume duty.
