Benue State Government has set up a committee to look into the upward review of workers salaries.
Governor Hyacinth Alia disclosed this while addressing workers on the celebration of 2024 Workers’ Day at the IBB square, Makurdi.
He promised that his government will implement without hesitation, the recommendation of the committee.
Alia who stated that workers remain the bedrock of any government, noted that without them, no government can function.
He lamented over the stagnation workers of the State suffered in the hands of past administration, saying,” those days are over as my government has prioritize workers welfare particularly payment of your salaries.
“We inherited 100s of billion naira as salary arrears. We have commenced payment of the arrears of 2022 and we are committed to pay everything.
“I have instructed the Ministry of Finance to double the payment of the arrears. We have also renovated the State Secretariat and provided a 330KVA generator to enable the workers have a conducive working environment. I want the workers to smile. Whatever is due to them, will be given to them. .
“I also, encourage workers to go into agricultural production as we are ready to give them inputs and grants. I urge them to always consider dialogue with government rather than embarking on strike”, Alia appealed.
