The National Population Commission (NPC) yesterday sought President Goodluck Jonathan’s proclamation for 2016 census.

The chairman of the commission, Eze Duruiheoma, who led his members to the Presidential Villa for a meeting with Jonathan, told State House correspondents the next national headcount would be credible and devoid of controversies.

He added that the cause of frictions after every national census exercise was due to lack of public enlightenment.

The NPC Chairman urged Nigerians not to see census figures as a basis for the allocation of more revenue and representation in the National Assembly.

He however noted that census figures are needed for proper and careful planning.
