South East Erosion Control Commission Bill passes first reading in Reps

A Bill seeking to establish the South East Erosion Control Commission(SEEC) has passed its first reading in the National Assembly, aimed at addressing the severe erosion affecting the region.
Sponsored by Hon. Emeka Martins Chinedu, the bill aims to develop and implement strategies to combat erosion, protect the environment, and safeguard livelihoods in the affected communities.
The proposed commission will provide an institutional framework to manage and mitigate erosion, ensuring the protection of farmlands, homes, and infrastructure in the region.
The Bill will now proceed to the next stages of the legislative process, including further readings, debates, and considerations.
