The Niger chapter, All Progressives Congress (APC), has condemned the state Commissioner of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Alhaji Isah Kantigi over abandoned road projects, without sanctions against the various organizations who were awarded the contracts.
According to the party, Kantigi’s confirmation that contractors have abandoned sites after collecting mobilization was a clear confession that the government has failed the people of the state, thereby vindicating the All Progressives Congress (APC) on its stance that the administration‘s claim to executing gigantic projects was only on papers and not reality.
Publicity Secretary of Niger chapter of the APC, Mr. Jonathan Vatsa, stated this yesterday in an interactive session with journalists, adding that the commissioner has unknowingly exposed the ruthless manner in which the local governments connived with the state governor, Muazu Babangida Aliyu to plunder public funds.
“The sponsored media tour of local government projects in Niger state organized by the state commissioner of local government, Alhaji Isah Kantigi has exposed the stealing and plundering of public funds by the PDP led government of Governor Aliyu. We said that the 10km road projects had failed and they said we were into gorilla propaganda. Now the commissioner should explain who is deceiving the people” vasta said.
Vasta noted that it’s aware that the administration has embarked on media propaganda, which has been its hallmark, to deceive the people on projects that were never executed.
He said that the purported threat to arrest contractors over the failed 10km road projects in 23 out of 25 local governments was a script play designed, to blind fold the people over the disappearance of billions of naira; siphoned through the projects by the administration.
According Vatsa, “why is it taking five years for the administration to pursue the contractors that abandoned sites three months after collecting mobilisation over the years?”
The APC spokesman, advised the commissioner to subject himself to public scrutiny and handover the contractors to the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) to wash his hands clean of connivance claimed by the opposition; instead of embarking on unnecessary media propaganda that will further expose the rotten eggs in the administration.
