Yobe govt to handover livestock grazing reserve to leaders of Fulani

The Yobe State Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni has directed the ministry of Agriculture and Natural resources to handover of Nazari Livestock Development Centre in Jakusko local government area in the state to Fulani leaders of Lamidos, Jauros and Ardo of the host communities.
The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali, gave the directive during an inspection visit of reserve.
The governor stated that the handing over became necessary as the multi-billion naira project is ready for occupation and usage.
He said the state, in collaboration with the federal government invested billions of naira for construction of the reserve which is the second-largest livestock development centre in sub-Saharan Africa.
Gov. Buni reassured the readiness of the government towards supporting the grazing reserve for socio-economic growth and development of livestock production in the state.
The grazing reserve has a capacity of over eighty thousand hectares of land with different structures put in places for herders as part of dividend of democracy in addition to promoting peace especially between farmers and herders in Yobe state.
According to him, the Livestock Development Centre is a deliberate policy by his administration to settle headers in one place to concentrate on their grazing business and to enrol their children to school.
