The Speaker, Niger state house of assembly, Barrister Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji have insisted that the bandits are currently occupying the largest military training camps in Kontagora local government area of the state.
Sarkin-Daji, who made this assertion in an interview with some journalists in Minna, Niger state capital, challenged the military to always verify issues concerning the people before denial or refuting the facts on ground.
He revealed that “even yesterday about twenty passengers in five vehicles were abducted in to same training ground, just as kidnapped victims from Kontagora and Mariga local government areas were been taking into the camps and that is where ransom are being collected before victims released.”
The Speaker who emphasized not to argued with the Nigerian Army stressed that the state assembly members are part of the community who lamented over the true situation on ground however challenged the military that their denial was baseless and unfounded.
He opines hat the lawmakers did not undermine the military but they were trying to inform Nigerians about the challenges confronting their people and communities while urging the army to flush the bandits out of the training camps so allow peace and stability of the areas.
According to a motion of urgent public importance by the member representing Kontagora 11 state constituency, Abdullahi Isah during it plenary, the military camp which occupied very large pieces of land extending from Kontagora local government to part of Mariga local government is now being occupied by the gunmen.
Isah told the house that following the occupation of the training camp by the bandits, over 23 farming communities within the camp have relocated due to the incessant attacks by the gunmen.
