Former Minister for State, Foreign Affairs Prof. Nicholas Adah has lamented over the political crisis in Rivers State, describing it as ‘unhealthy’ development for the country.
Prof. Adah said this during an interview with Journalists in his residence in Makurdi on Wednesday, maintaining that such act negates the tenets of democratic governance.
He noted that the primary role of government at every level is the security and protection of lives and property and wondered why the present administration is adjudicating that responsibility to cause conflict.
While stressing that the withholding of the State allocation by the federal government is not the solution to the political imbroglio, the erstwhile Minister said a more pragmatic step should be taken to resolve the impasse.
“What I will advise is that, there are many approaches. Some approaches of settling some issues are political, applying the doctrine of necessity. All legal issues should be put aside and we should apply the doctrine of necessity”.
