The FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike has declared that the FCT Administration, in tandem with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu don’t award projects that would become abandoned projects in the territory and other places.
Wike particularly stated that when they start any project, and they must complete the project.
He spoke yesterday at the official flag-off ceremony of the construction of 10.5 km Kabusa-Ketti Access Road, in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), as part of the ongoing provision of road infrastructure across the FCT.
He noted that part of President Tinubu’s promises made was to provide access roads to the people, which will reduce their pains, make our farmers go back to farm, make sure that this security problem we have will be reduced.
He said: “It is the responsibility of government, and part of the Tinubu’s agenda that it was not enough to concentrate development in the city, and Mr. President has directed that we must also open up more satellite towns.
“This road would be commissioned before or during the second anniversary of Mr. President as the money for this project is not a problem, and it is not a project that will be abandoned.
“We don’t award projects that would become abandoned projects. We start the project, and we must complete the project. And for the first time, you can see roads and at the same time providing street lights.That’s the way to improve security.
“Job creation is not only when you let somebody to work in ministry. By this road work, we are also creating a job.
“Have you seen any minister here before? Is it the first time you have seen a minister? What it means is that this time around, it is not for us to sit in the office. We have to come and interact with you.
“We have to come to tell you that we know what you face and we feel your pain, and we are here to solve your problem. That is what Mr. President has sent us to come and do.
“When the president was asking for you to vote for him, he made some commitments. He said, look, if you vote for him, he was going to do this and he was going to do that. Part of his promises he made was to provide access roads to our people that will reduce their pains, make our farmers go back to farm, make sure that this security problem we have will be reduced.
“And that is why he has come today to fulfill that promise he has made.
Note that Mr. President has gone through me to fulfill the promise he has made. It has never happened.
Continue to give us the support. I will be coming here once every week to (make sure that the contractor does not give us any excuse.”
Earlier, while providing the project overview, acting Executive Secretary, Federal Capita Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Daudu, disclosed that work commenced two weeks ago, with six months completion period.
Daudu added that the 10.5km road when completed would reduce travel time and improve social economic outlook of the area and other adjoining communities.
Not left out, AMAC Chairman, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, noted that the construction of the Kabusa-Ketti Road is born out of generosity and will to touch and reduce pains of the of residents of Kabusa and Ketti who have suffered so much as a result of the poor state of the road.
“We are confident that you have made history as a great transformer, and a game changer.
“Stake holders at AMAC have asked me to use this opportunity to thank President Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, for bringing you to our rescue.
“It may interest you to know that AMAC is divided into three Zones, of which you have succeeded in wiping our tears by constructing Saburi, Karimo to Dei-Dei, Life Camp, road which falls in Zone C”, he added.
On his part, the project manager, Engr. Abdullahi Murtala, assured that the Project shall be completed on time, without compromising standard.
