Anambra guber: 1,630 delegates set to elect APC candidate

Contrary to reports in some section of the media, about 1,630 delegates are set in Awka, Anambra State to elect the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the ongoing process.

Already most of the said delegates have been accredited, waiting for voting.

Seven aspirants had earlier bought forms to contest the ticket, only four aspirants were left as at 7pm Saturday evening.

The remaining aspirants are: Hon. Nicolas Ukachukwu, Chief Valentine Ozigbo, Engr. Johnbosco Onunkwo and Mr. Edozie Madu.

Those that have pulled out from the race based on their official statements include: Hon. Chukwuma Umoeji, Sir Paul Chukwuma and Prof. Obiora Okwonko.

Earlier in the day, the Chairman of the Anambra Governirshio Primary Election Committee and Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, had series of meetings with various sub-committees in order to ensure an hitch-free process.

A visit to the venue of the election at Dr. Dora Akunyili Saturday evening shows a peaceful environment as delegates were seen walking into the venue orderly while security agents are fully position in strategic places.
