The Africa Development Bank(AFDB), in partnership with the Kaduna State Government, is set to launch a special program that will improve the Primary Healthcare system in terms of digital upgrades from manual operations and access to quality healthcare services.

The President of AFDB, Dr Akinwumi A. Adesina asserted this during the groundbreaking ceremony of the special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone in Kaduna, today

He disclosed that his organization has followed up on Governor Uba Sani’s reforms in the Health sector, especially the upgrade of 250 primary healthcare centers from level 1 to level 2, making Kaduna the only State in Nigeria to have advanced to such a level.

This move, according to the AFDB President, shows the interest of Gov. Uba Sani in prioritizing the Health of Kaduna State people, hence, the need to support him more to increase healthcare benefits.

“The launch of the special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone today is only because you care about agriculture; you have been very consistent such that you see agriculture as a drive for economic transformation, and I commend you for that. They say Kaduna leads in everything, and today, it is the first State in Nigeria to launch the groundbreaking for the special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone.

“Your Excellency, I want to commend you for the leadership you showed when it comes to primary healthcare. I am not surprised because your Deputy is a very good Doctor. I want to tell you that the AFDB will launch a special program to help you build better on what you are doing in the PHC system.

“This will include four areas, and the first is how to continue to support you to extend them in connection to water, sanitation, and energy. You have done a lot, so we continue to support you to do more.

“The second is how to make them digital so that, records can move from primary healthcare to secondary and tertiary healthcare. The third is how to make them sustainable so we will have to deal with a kind of franchising model in which the private sector will play a significant role.
