Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has relaunched its economic empowerment program, VIBES (Vocational, Innovation, Business, and Empowerment Scheme), with a mission to boost small businesses and youth entrepreneurship in over 110 host and pipeline communities in Rivers State.
This initiative is a revamped version of the company’s Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES), which has trained over 1,400 youths in various skills since 2004. VIBES offers a comprehensive approach to economic empowerment, providing participants with enhanced support, including networking opportunities, grants, resources, and mentorship to refine and scale up their business ideas.
According to Dr. Sophia Horsfall, General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, “VIBES will foster an environment where individuals can create businesses, generate employment, and become innovators.”
The program’s design includes comprehensive business training, personalized advisory services, and structured mentorship from seasoned business professionals.
One of the exciting aspects of VIBES is the grant award for the top 50 participants, who will receive $1,300 each to upscale their businesses. Additionally, an alumni network will be created to provide continued mentorship, networking, and support after the program, ensuring that past beneficiaries can share experiences and access further opportunities.
NNLG’s community development drive is built on four pillars: economic empowerment, education, infrastructure development, and healthcare.
