The Niger Delta Youth Parliament (NDYP) is set to host a landmark Regional Youth Convergence focused on internal security and digital innovation, aimed at empowering over 1,000 young people with green and digital skills.

The high-profile event, scheduled for Friday, 4 July 2025, at the Unity Hall in Government House, Asaba, Delta State, is being organised in partnership with the Delta State Ministry of Youth Development and the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on ICT Development and Digital Innovation.

In a statement on Thursday, the speaker of the NDYP,Ifon Daniel
emphasised the need for a renewed sense of patriotism, purpose, and youth-led action to address security threats and economic challenges facing the region.

“The challenges we face are not just obstacles but opportunities to redefine the future of our region,” the statement read.

According to him,T”he convergence will gather youth leaders, policymakers, security experts, and tech innovators to deliberate on regional stability, protection of national assets, and the evolving role of digital technology in internal security.

“Key features of the event include panel discussions on cybersecurity, counter-terrorism, and AI in security; policy dialogues with lawmakers and security agencies; and a startup showcase featuring young entrepreneurs developing digital solutions with social impact.

“The NDYP also used the occasion to express gratitude to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, commending his commitment to youth empowerment.”

The group declared him the Pan-Niger Delta Youth Governor in recognition of his “undiluted passion for youth inclusivity in governance.”

Daniel said , the initiative will help bridge the gap between policy and innovation, enabling youth voices to influence governance while promoting responsible digital citizenship and cybersecurity awareness.
