The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Benue State, Chief Michael Aondoakaa, has called on the Federal Government to launch a comprehensive investigation into the deadly attack on Otukpo Nobi community and the recent killing of Miyetti Allah leader, Ardo Risku Mohammed.

Aondoakaa said Nigerians deserved to know the truth behind both incidents, insisting that justice and accountability must prevail.

The former Attorney-General of the Federation made the appeal on Monday during a condolence visit to Otukpo, where more than 16 persons were reportedly killed in Sunday’s attack.

Describing the incident as a tragedy that should concern every Benue citizen, Aondoakaa said no society should watch its people being killed without seeking justice.

“We cannot shy away from confronting our challenges. I’m here to see you because I share your pains. This attack is an attack on all of us. We can’t abandon our people to be slaughtered like animals in our own land,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Elder James Okoh appreciated Aondoakaa for identifying with the victims and their families during their period of mourning.

Okoh said the visit brought comfort to the community, adding that it reflected genuine concern and compassion for those affected by the attack.

Aondoakaa also paid a condolence visit to the Och’Idoma, His Royal Majesty Agaba’Idu, Dr John Elaigwu Odogbo, at his palace in Otukpo.

Addressing the monarch, he said he came not only as the PDP governorship candidate but also as a son and in-law of Benue South who was deeply saddened by the loss of lives.

“Your Royal Majesty, I’m here today not as a PDP candidate but as a son and in-law of Zone C who is saddened by the unfortunate incident of the attack on our people a few days ago,” he said.

He condemned the killings and prayed for God’s comfort for the bereaved families.

Responding, the Och’Idoma thanked Aondoakaa for the visit, saying his presence demonstrated genuine concern for the people at a difficult time.

“I’m consoled by your visit. That you heard about this incident and left everything to be physically here shows how much this means to you,” the monarch said.

The traditional ruler urged security agencies and relevant authorities to act promptly on intelligence reports to prevent future attacks.

“I want my people to be protected. No matter how many condolence statements and letters I get, the lives of my slain people cannot be brought back,” he added.

Aondoakaa later visited the Och’Otukpo, His Royal Highness Chief (Dr.) John Onuminya Eyimonye, where he also commiserated with the traditional ruler and residents over the attack.
