I Stopped Making My Hair to Work’ — Funke Akindele Reveals Sacrifices Behind ₦2.7bn Movie Success

Date:

Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, has opened up on the personal sacrifices and relentless hard work that led to the success of her latest blockbuster, Behind The Scenes, which grossed over ₦2.7 billion.
Speaking in an interview with BellaNaija, the actress said the record-breaking achievement came after months of sleepless nights, intense dedication and putting her career above personal comfort.
“For the last movie to cross ₦2.7 billion, it was a lot of sleepless nights for me. A lot of sacrifice, giving my all. I forget to eat sometimes,” she said.
Akindele revealed that she abandoned many aspects of her personal life to focus on her craft, including social outings and self-care.
“I don’t even make my hair, except I’m going on the red carpet or for something very important. I don’t attend parties. I don’t go to greet people at home. I put everything into work—research, writing, work. I’m neck deep into work,” she added.
The actress, however, noted that she is now taking time to care for herself after the demanding period.
“It’s just now that I’m relaxed, feeling fresh, doing the skincare routine, looking beautiful, smelling nice.”
Her remarks have sparked reactions on social media, with many Nigerians praising her discipline, focus and commitment to excellence, describing her success as a testament to the rewards of hard work and determination.
