….as Mark gives reasons for coalition

The entire leadership of the African Democratic Congress, (ADC), across all states has officially stepped down to facilitate the transition of the party structure to the 2027 opposition coalition.
Outgoing ADC National Chairman, Ralph O. Nwosu, announced yesterday that Senator David Mark has been appointed as the interim National Chairman, while Rauf Argegbesola will serve as the party’s National Secretary.
This comes as leaders of the opposition coalition, including Atiku, Obi, El-Rufai, Amaechi, Rauf Aregbesola and others, gathered at the Yar’Adua Centre for the official unveiling of ADC.
Others at the meeting are: Former APC National Chairman, John Oyegun, Former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Former Attorney General of the federation, Abubakar Malami, Dino Melaye, a former Minister of Youth and Sports; Solomon Dalong; Dele Momodu, Senator Gabriel Suswam, and Senator Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party (LP), former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (retd.) and others.
The interim National Chairman and a former Senate President, David Mark declared that the coalition of opposition political parties was to stop Nigeria from becoming a one-party state.
He stated this during the unveiling of the ADC as the platform for the coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said: “This coalition goes beyond gaining political power. It is a concerted effort to rebuild the crumbling pillars of Nigeria’s democracy.”
Mark accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of hijacking “all democratic institutions” and pushing Nigeria towards “total civilian dictatorship”.
He also accused Tinubu of destabilising opposition parties in a bid to achieve “total state capture” and leave Nigerians with no alternative in the 2027 elections.
Mark insisted that the ADC was “not merely another electoral vehicle but a fortress and platform of our revived democracy.”
