The Amalgamated Arewa Youth Group (AAYG) has expressed its satisfaction with President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, highlighting the achievement of the 2025 revenue target as evidence of the economy’s stabilization.
The group also voted for confidence in Finance Minister Wale Edun, praising his technical competence and innovative approach to revenue generation. This statement was released by Alhaji Abdul Idi Ladduga, the Convener of the AAYG, and was made available to the media in Kaduna.
According to the statement, the federal government achieved its 2025 revenue target in August, primarily due to the stimulation of the non-oil sector.
The AAYG commended President Tinubu’s economic reforms, particularly eliminating a corrupt foreign exchange regime.
The group unanimously voiced its confidence in Finance Minister Wale Edun, urging President Tinubu to disregard calls for his removal. They condemned the increasing number of voices demanding Edun’s resignation, labeling these demands as premature and a disservice to the nation. The group attributed the calls for resignation to political motivations and a disconnect from reality.
“The elimination of a corrupt foreign exchange regime, where ‘nobody is trading pieces of paper for foreign exchange anymore’ and where access no longer depends on cronyism, is a fundamental cleansing of the system. This change benefits genuine entrepreneurs and investors over speculators.”
The AAYG’s statement illustrates the group’s support for President Tinubu’s economic direction and Finance Minister Edun’s leadership, emphasizing the need for patience and continued support from Nigerians as the government works to rebuild the economy.
