Kano: APC disowns groups backing Gov Yusuf’s call for removal of CP

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, has distanced the party from a coalition calling itself “12 APC Groups,” which recently backed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in demanding the removal of the State Commissioner of Police, Dr Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
It would be recalled that the so-called groups had issued a statement accusing the Police Commissioner of refusing to participate in Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary Parade and called for his dismissal.
However, in a statement made available to journalists in Kano, the APC Chairman dismissed the group as fake, saying they were not genuine members of the party.
According to him, those claiming to be APC members under the name 12 APC Groups are nothing but paid agents working for some disgruntled politicians.
Prince Abbas explained that true APC card-carrying members supported the police commissioner’s decision to stay away from the parade, noting that he was simply following official directives.
He further called on the Federal Government to punish other federal security agencies who attended the parade ground because they violated clear orders not to participate.
“Government should hasten the investigation of those agencies who went ahead to attend the event despite being told not to,” he added.
Prince Abbas reaffirmed that the Kano APC remains united and warned the public not to be misled by fake groups parading themselves as party representatives for selfish political gains.
