Ahead of today’s judgement of the Presidential Election Petitions’ Tribunal (PEPT), one of the parties in the suit, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Tuesday went spiritual, seeking God’s intervention and favour in the matter.
The decision to go spiritual by the PDP came even as some chieftains, members and other stakeholders of the party concluded a seven-day fasting and prayer session yesterday ahead of court’s ruling.
As members gathered at the party’s chapel situated within the Wadata Plaza headquarters of the party in Abuja, praises and worship rented thel PDP office, The Chairman, Christian Religion Body 2023 and former Governor of Adamawa State, Mr Boni Haruna expressed confidence in God’s intervention in today’s judgement.
Haruna expressed the firm confidence that the will of God will prevail because He rules in the affairs of men.
Haruna, in his sermon, said PDP will recover its mandate, adding that God will make it possible for the party to recover whatever it has lost like Job whose end became greater than his beginning after a period of lack and suffering and David who suffered similar fate.
The former Governor of Adamawa State, who took his message from the book of First Samuel 30: 1-8, said that as God made David to recover all during his expenditure with the Amalekite, the PDP would recover from its loss in the last presidential election.
Haruna said: “Like in the day of Amalekite and David, God will make it possible for the PDP to recover its mandate. Jesus Christ will make it possible for the party to recover and reconcile its members. It is only Jesus Christ that can bring restoration. We seek restoration to everything that has been lost.
“David seeks God’s face and God instructed him and he recovered all that was taken away from him. PDP will recover what was taken from it. We need to reconcile with God.
“We will put this nation in the right place. There’s nothing that is lost that cannot be recovered, provided we commit it into the hands of God”, he said.
Also speaking, the Director of Publicity of the PDP and Co-ordinator of PDP Christian Religion Body 2023, Madam Chinwe Nnorom said that it is not a coincidence that the prayer and fasting of the party, which started last week “Is ending almost the same time the tribunal is set to deliver its judgment”.
