The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Olusola Odumosu,  has advocated for  strengthening of data governance systems across agencies and sectors.

He said this will ensure that data is always correct, complete, reliable and up to date.

A statement issued on Friday by DSC Monica Ojobi FCT CDPRO, said Odumosu, stated this while presenting a  speech on the theme; ” Navigating the Future: Harnessing Information and Strategy for Sustainable Growth”.

The event was the 9th Annual National Strategic Conference, Honorary Doctorate  Degree and Award Ceremony, of the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management  (CIISM) in partnership with American Discovery University of Missouri USA, at the Army  Resource Centre in Abuja.

The FCT boss opined that investing in strategic literacy  for leaders and practitioners, building innovation ecosystems that connect government, academia and industry as well as enhance citizen engagement through transparent and open information was key for sustainable growth .

The FCT helmsman maintained that real- time intelligence improves prevention of threats,  response time,  community information, enhance early warning systems, strategic planning and ensures optimal deployment of resources.

The Commandant intimated that  the model the FCT Command has embraced , modernizing the Corps’ operations management, strategic foresight and inter- agency collaboration.

He stressed that information is only valuable when it informs strategy, stating that strategy is only effective when grounded in reliable information, adding that human capital is the foundation of sustainable growth.

He lauded CIISM for consistently providing platforms where ideas,  knowledge and innovations converge to shape the future of governance , security and national development.
