Port-Harcourt/Abuja-based businessman recognised for transformative impact on
education and youth empowerment
Dr Ishaku Buba Kadala, Managing Director of Bilga Global Resources Limited, has been conferred with the 2025 Distinguished Həba Service Award for Commitment to Community and Societal Service by the Huba Development Association, Abuja, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to community development and humanitarian service.
The award honours Dr Kadala’s sustained commitment to educational support, youth empowerment, and community infrastructure development, particularly in his native Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State and beyond.
Speaking at the award ceremony, the association’s leadership praised Dr Kadala’s philanthropic approach, noting that his business success has been matched by an unwavering commitment to giving back to society. “Dr Kadala has demonstrated that business success can go hand-in-hand with a commitment to community service,” the citation stated.
A Journey of Service:
Born on 14th October 1972 in Ngalbi village, Hong Local Government Area, Adamawa State,
Dr Kadala’s journey reflects determination and a vision for community upliftment. He completed his primary education at Ngalbi Primary School in 1983 and secondary education
at the defunct Government Secondary School Uba in 1989.
Pursuing further academic qualifications later in life, he enrolled at Kenule Beesam Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, obtaining his National Diploma in 2019 and Higher National Diploma in 2022.
His commitment to education and community service earned him an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Prowess University, Delaware, USA, at a ceremony held on 2nd March 2024 at
Rahaman Bello Hall, University of Lagos. The event, themed “Waves of Freedom: the Interchange of Personal Responsibility in Nation Building, Prospects and Realities,” saw Dr
Kadala inducted alongside 14 other personalities as a Fellow of the Institute of Arts Management and Professionals in Nigeria.
Building an Enterprise, Transforming Lives:
Established in 2011, Bilga Global Resources Limited has grown from its early trading and haulage operations to become one of Nigeria’s most diversified logistics companies. With interests spanning shipping, travel, machinery, logistics, property, oil and gas, power,
chemicals, and retail, the company operates extensively across Nigeria and neighbouring African countries.
However, it is Dr Kadala’s impact beyond the boardroom that has earned him widespread recognition. The HDA citation highlighted that through his company alone, he has created
employment opportunities for no fewer than 100 people, many of whom have been groomed in business entrepreneurship. Several have gone on to establish their own businesses, whilst
others continue to work with the organisation.
Education and Empowerment:
Dr Kadala’s philanthropic efforts are particularly notable in the education sector. In 2021, he settled the academic project costs for 48 graduating students from tertiary institutions in the Ngalbi community alone. Between 2021 and 2023, he empowered at least 50 unemployed graduates and entrepreneurs across Hong Local Government Area with substantial financial resources to boost their businesses.
His interventions have extended to providing tricycles and motorcycles to unemployed youth, women, and elderly people to reduce poverty levels. He has also drilled several hand-pump
boreholes and wells in different localities to improve access to clean water.
The Huba Development Association’s citation emphasised that his approach has “not only helped to reduce unemployment amongst unemployed youth, but has also contributed to the economic growth and development of the larger society irrespective of any differences.”
A Vision for Inclusive Development:
Dr Kadala’s work reflects a vision of an inclusive, progressive community where no one is discriminated against. His interventions touch all strata of society, from immediate family members in Ngalbi village to the wider Hong Local Government Area and beyond.
Concluding the award citation, the Huba Development Association stated: “We hope that his example will inspire others to follow in his footsteps and make a positive impact in their own communities.”
As Dr Kadala continues his work through Bilga Global Resources and his personal philanthropic initiatives, his story serves as a testament to the transformative power of combining business
acumen with genuine commitment to community development.
