The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) while reacting to the alleged court nullification of its registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it is yet to receive the certified copy of the court judgment.

National Publicity Secretary (NPS) of the party, Osa Director said the leadership of the NDC would study the judgment before taking an official position on the development.

“We shall get a copy of the judgment and read through it before we can issue a comprehensive press statement on the matter. Thanks,” the party spokesman said in a brief response to questions.

The party spokesman spoke following a court ruling that was said to have set aside the registration of the NDC, a political party that is one of the parties that are billed to contest forthcoming 2027 general elections.

It could be recalled that the party was registered by INEC via a court ruling, after fulfilling the constitutional and statutory requirements for political party registration.

The NDC since its registration, has become one of the leading opposition political platforms, and has attracted a huge followership, especially with the emergence of former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.

Meanwhile, the report of the court judgment has generated widespread reactions among party faithful and supporters, with many saying they’re hopeful that the judgement will not stand.

However, the NDC leadership appears determined to examine the contents of the judgment before announcing its next line of action, including the likely possibility of an appeal.
