Fresh crises have emerged within the ruling APC in Kebbi State following the suspension of the party’s state chairman, Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru, alongside the chairman of the party in Zuru Local Government Area, Aliyu Abubakar Abiola.
The state chapter of the APC announced the disciplinary action on Wednesday, citing allegations ranging from poor mobilisation and weak stakeholder engagement to non-compliance with party procedures.
According to a statement issued by the party’s secretary, Sa’idu Muhammad Kimba, complaints from party stakeholders in the Zuru Emirate prompted an investigation that culminated in the suspensions.
The party leadership said the affected officials were accused of showing insufficient commitment to party activities and failing to effectively coordinate grassroots support efforts.
To ensure continuity, the APC directed the deputy state chairman to assume leadership responsibilities in an acting capacity pending further decisions.
The development comes amid another high-profile suspension in the state government.
The Kebbi State Government on the same day suspended the Commissioner for Livestock Development and Fisheries, Kabir Usman Alaramma Zuru.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Yakubu Bala-Tafida, the commissioner was directed to immediately relinquish all official duties and hand over government property in his possession to the ministry’s Permanent Secretary.
While authorities did not disclose the specific reasons behind the commissioner’s suspension, the simultaneous actions against senior party and government figures have drawn attention to ongoing political and administrative developments within Kebbi State.
