The four finalists of this year’s Federation Cup final, Enyimba FC, Dolphins FC for the men and Rivers Angels FC and Sunshine Queens FC have expressed fears about playing the finals in Lagos with the Ebola scourge now reported in the nation’s commercial centre.

The search for a new venue has already begun following protest by all the teams that qualified for the finals of the men and women version of the Federation Cup scheduled for August 16 at the Teslim Balogun stadium in Lagos.

Feelers from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) revealed that the Board has already put the final on hold till they secure an alternative venue.

Our source who confirmed that the clubs have made verbal protests about playing the final in Lagos to the management and individual management of the board said a decision on date and venue of the Federation cup final will be taken at the next executive committee meeting.

“The teams have expressed fears about playing the final in Lagos because of the outbreak of Ebola virus in Lagos.

“We have not taken a decision yet but I can assure you that the August 16 date is not feasible” an executive member of the board stated.

Another reason why the Federation cup is not going to hold as earlier scheduled is because of the post world cup crisis that befell the NFF.

Meanwhile, Abuja National Stadium and the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna are in strong contention to host the final but the clubs are clamouring for U J Esuene stadium in Calabar to host the final since they are all southern clubs.
