Amid the political tensions between opposition parties, as well as the internal crises going on within their folds, nine senators from the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Labour Party, (LP), and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), have officially defected to the African Democratic Congress, (ADC), during a plenary session at the National Assembly.
Peoples Daily reports that the Senators who made the switch are Sen. Ireti Kingibe (FCT) – LP to ADC, Sen. Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo (Nasarawa South) – PDP to ADC Sen. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto South) – PDP to ADC and Sen. Binos Dauda Yaroe (Adamawa South) – PDP to ADC
Others are Sen. Austin Akobundu (Abia Central) – PDP to ADC, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe (Abia South) – APGA to ADC, Sen. Victor Umeh (Anambra Central) – LP to ADC, Sen. Tony Nwoye (Anambra North) – LP to ADC and Sen. Lawal Adamu Usman (Kaduna Central) – PDP to ADC.
Kalu had during the plenary disclosed that six members of the PDP, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC).
He also announced that six other lawmakers from the Young Progressives Party, YPP, and the LP, had defected to the ADC.
The announcements were formally read on the floor of the House during plenary.
