Kebbi govt investigates death of 2 children at Zuru General Hospital

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has approved the constitution of a special committee to investigate the death of two children at General Hospital, Zuru.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

According to the statement, the committee is composed of the Commissioner for Information Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK as Chairman, while the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Zaki Abubakar Zaki will serve as Secretary

Two others, the Commissioner of Health, Alhaji Sama’ila Augie and that of Establishment matters, Alhaji Manu Dogondaji, will serve as members.

They are mandated to investigate the remote and immediate causes of the death of the two children, who are from the same father; and identify all those directly or indirectly connected with the incident.

The committee is also to determine whether the children were victims of a wrongful injection,  apportion blame where necessary and make recommendations to avert future occurrence.

The committee has one week to submit its report.
