The Chief of Staff to Gombe state governor, Alhaji Ahmed Yayari has decried the rampant killing of innocent citizens by political thugs in the state, saying that the issue of mass killing of civilians in the state is becoming worrisome.
Alhaji Yayari made the disclosure yesterday in Gombe, during the inauguration ceremony of Gombe Unity and Development committees, held at the premises of the Emir’s Palace in Gombe.
The Chief of Staff, who expressed his unhappinness with the spate of killings in the state, explained that just of recent, two Marshals were killed behind the Emir’s palace by the Kalare group in Gombe, noting that government would do everything possible to ensure that the menace is put to an end.
According to him, Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo had made frantic effort to ensure that Kalare activities in the state is put to an end, and called on the youths to lay down their arms and embraced peace, as according to him, it is the only solution to benefit from the dividend of democracy in the country.
He emphasized that government cannot succeed in its programmes without the support of citizens, adding that there is need for peaceful co-existence among the people in the area in order to forge ahead.
Also speaking at the event, an elderly states man, Baba Jouro called on the youths not to allow any party to use them for their selfish interest, noting that there are political parties who are out to destroy the state.
He stressed that without peace there would be no development in the state.
