Following the recent claim by the security operatives that the missing emir of Gwoza, Muhammadu Timta, had reappeared and rescued, a resident in the area, who escaped from the unfortunate attack launched by the insurgents, has revealed that the emir was still nowhere to be found.

The resident, who does not want his name mentioned and who spoke to the Hausa service of Voice of America, monitored in Jos, revealed that the said claim was just a mere speculation by people, adding that no one could tell the exact whereabout of the emir.

He said, “Nobody would tell you the actual location or whereabout of our emir. People are just making speculation, but are not sure of where he is.”

The escapee, who claimed that he had a conversation the insurgents before he fled, also said that the insurgents have taken total control of the emir’s palace and other strategic places, adding that the insurgents had all the means of transportation and fighting equipment, including armoured tanks.

On how he escaped from the hands of insurgents, he said, “When the jet fighters arrived Gwoza on Wednesday, the attention of the insurgents was diverted to the air fighters and moments later, myself and others managed to flee to the bush.

In a related development, the VOA reported that scores of refugees who have fled Gwoza following the attack are in a refugee camp in Mubi, Adamawa state, without sufficient food and other necessities to sustain them.
