Man, 19, pleads guilty for house breaking

A Magistrates’ Court in Kuje, FCT, yesterday remanded an artisan, Danjuma Abdullahi, 19, for house breaking and stealing plasma TV and a bag.

Abdullahi, who resides in Unguwan Gade area in Kuje Area Council of the FCT, is charged with joint act, criminal trespass and house breaking.

Abdullahi pleaded guilty to the charges and begged the court for leniency.

The Magistrate, Mr. Azubike Okeagwu, ordered him to be remanded and adjourned the case to July 20 for ruling.

“In line with your admittance to have committed the crime, you are hereby remanded in prison until July 20 for ruling.’’

Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Ocheche Samuel, told the court that the matter was reported at the Kuje Police Station on June 22, by Mr. Okechukwu Nzeh of the same address with Abdullahi.

Samuel said Abdullahi and one Musa, now at large, broke into Nzeh’s house at about 10 a.m. on June 22, when he went to Church.

“They broke into his house and stole a Samsung plasma TV, DVD player, and a bag containing clothes and vehicle particulars, all valued N150, 000.

“Luck was not on their side, as they were caught at Paseli area when they tried to break into another house; Musa escaped’’, Samuel said.

Samuel added that only the plasma TV was recovered during police investigation while the rest of the items were yet to be recovered.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened sections 79, 342 and 286 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
